DLMS Concepts

The DLMS is modeled around conceptual "objects" that represent important aspects of the literature, culture, history and society of Tibet. The DLMS currently models 4 objects - Persons, Works, Places and Corporations. The system is inherently flexible and more objects can be added over time. With these 4 objects, TBRC has created over 50,000 records. Each record represents a specific instance of an object. TBRC, then, talks about creating 30,000 Work records, 9,000 Person records, etc.

For each Object, TBRC has specified required and optional attributes. For instance, a single Primary Name is required for a Person Object along with any number of optional Names. These optional name variants are based on what a Person is known by in different social, religious and political contexts.
